Fraud Express (HUR)
Mobile Network Operators around the world have adopted “Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange” (NRTRDE) solutions to counter the threat of roaming fraud. NRTRDE is a mechanism to get records from a visited network to the home network in near real time. As the home operator, you can then use that data to identify and prevent fraud.
Not all operators have completed their migration to NRTRDE and some operators continue to use High Usage Reports (HUR).
The MACH Fraud Express provides three types of HUR services:
- Sending of HURs on behalf of the VPMN
- Receiving of HURs on behalf of the HPMN
- Creation of reports at the HPMN, based on incoming NRTRDE data
The last of these three options is also important if you receive NRTRDE data, but prefer the HUR format to get an indication of all high usage subscribers.
Fraud Express is effective in its simplicity, but if you are looking for more robust methods of detecting fraud you should consider MACH’s premium Roaming Fraud service. Fraud Protection will detect more subtle approaches to fraud where fraudsters operate beneath thresholds. By using advanced analytics, it will identify the more sophisticated frauds, much earlier, and provide you with fraud cases, which have been pre-screened to minimize false alarms.
Excessive usage can be an indicator of fraud. The first-alert service provided by Fraud Express enables your fraud department to react, keeping any potential threat under control, without the administrative overheads that are commonly associated with an on-site Fraud Management System (FMS).
