MACH launches WiMAX and WiFi to 2G/3G Inter-Standard Solution
Luxembourg, 17th November 2009 – MACH, the leading provider of hub-based mobile communications exchange solutions, today announced the extension of its Inter-Standard Roaming solution to support WiMAX and WiFi technologies. The launched functionality allows mobile WiMAX users to roam on WiFi and 2G/ 3G GSM networks anywhere in the world.
Today’s mobile marketplace is characterised by the rapidly growing demand for seamless, complete connectivity. Consumers now demand affordable, high-speed wireless broadband internet access as an alternative to cable and DSL. Operators who can deliver this “last mile” of wireless broadband access will attract new, high-revenue inbound customers and generate new revenue channels for outbound traffic. Traditional channels to international inter-standard connectivity, however, are expensive, involve long deployment cycles, and are often inflexible in the face of evolving technology and customer demands.
“Today’s mobile consumer is more sophisticated, more demanding and more cost-sensitive than ever before, and our customers must deliver affordable, seamless access to meet ever-increasing customer demands,” said Artur Michalczyk, MACH COO. “The MACH suite of Inter-Standard Roaming solutions makes that possible. MACH solutions unite communications service providers anywhere, on any technology to roll out new services and to maximise revenue.”
The solution announced today by MACH allows mobile operators to expand coverage quickly and cost-effectively through one connection to the MACH WiMAX Roaming Hub. The MACH WiMAX/ WiFi Roaming Hub provides all of the technical infrastructure and interfaces required for WiMAX to WiMAX, WiMAX to GSM and WiMAX to WiFi roaming. The Hub supports multi-lateral and bi-lateral roaming and provides the business intelligence tools to predict and optimise roaming revenues, improve operational efficiency, and monitor inbound and outbound subscriber activity in near real-time.
MACH’s WiMAX/ WiFi Roaming Hub will open up new revenue opportunities for operators by providing seamless wireless broadband access to customers roaming abroad and by attracting inbound customers to their service. Increased customer satisfaction born of a more complete service will also increase customer retention rates.
The MACH WiMAX/ WiFi Roaming Hub involves no capital investment and is fast to deploy, accelerating operator time-to-value. The MACH managed service model reduces operational costs, while best-practice expertise and economies of scale reduce operational costs and provide unrivalled flexibility. The Hub is fully integrated with MACH’s market-leading clearing and settlement solutions, and with the Optimised Business Solutions suite of business intelligence applications.
“Mobile consumers aren’t interested why they can’t have seamless access, wherever they are – they just want the barriers removed,” said Dr. Ampai Pornprasertsakul from TRUE which is a Wi-Fi leading company in Asia. “Today’s announcement opens up a new world of wireless broadband internet roaming that is fast, reliable and affordable. That is what the mobile user has come to expect.”
MACH operates the world’s largest open connectivity hub, processes more than 60% of the world’s roaming calls and has more mobile customers than any other provider. The MACH WiMAX/ WiFi Roaming Hub is available immediately.
