|
Charles Gurassa has been with MACH since February this year. He has a wealth of executive experience in many influential, global companies and is well known for his strategic capabilities having held a variety of senior roles such as Non-Executive Chairman of Virgin Mobile, Chief Executive of Thomson Travel and various executive roles at British Airways.
Here, Charles shares a few of his thoughts on:
MACH
“MACH is a terrific company with a really strong position in the market, which has been undoubtedly strengthened further by the merger with Cibernet. I was also attracted by MACH’s investors, having Warburg Pincus as a backer is an asset.”
Knowledge and experience
“I have learned many lessons along the way in my career regardless of sector – most importantly that people and the team you work with are vitally important. I have had a lot of ‘people’ experience therefore helping teams to deliver their absolute best. We have a very good management team at MACH which positions us well to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing business world.”
Merging with Cibernet
“This very exciting merger brings numerous opportunities for MACH. It opens the doors to the US, where we are currently under-represented. The merger is an exceptionally good match and will enable us to be a key player in the biggest mobile market in the World. Cibernet bring their own industry know-how and a well established operational capability in India – they also have a terrific management team; a really talented group of individuals that will compliment MACH’s own team and combined, makes us a very formidable force.”
MACH’s potential
“We are very, very well placed within roaming. The industry continues to grow – people are travelling more and call costs are coming down. I believe that there will be an explosion in the coming years in the usage of data and VAS. Our success depends on us focusing on these opportunities and executing our solutions brilliantly. We very much have the capabilities to do so.”
His role as Non-Executive Chairman of MACH
“I am thrilled to be part of the Company. There are lots of challenges and opportunities ahead and I am looking forward to contributing to our future success.”
