End2End leaps forward in mobile gaming
Publication: 01.11.2007 by Jörgen Nördin, VP Marketing & Product Management, End2End
With the acquisition of Swedish connected-gaming specialist Terraplay recently, End2End, part of the MACH Group, has made an important move in pursuing their strategic focus. Terraplay’s publishing and community tools brilliantly complement End2End’s offering to telecom operators and content portals and utilises the full capacity of their Content Delivery Platform, giving End2End competitive edge regarding the mobile gaming community.
Analysis of the market today predicts a golden future for mobile gaming, and in fact turnovers are forecast to climb almost 50% from last year to reach $4.3 billion in 2007 (Gartner) and pass the $10 billion marker before the decade is out. Leading games publishers such as Gameloft and Glu Mobile have released figures for the first half of 2007 that support this optimism.
Multiplayer and community experiences are already areas that enjoy a huge and increasing interest from end-users and as bandwidth and handsets attain the necessary maturity, these preferences will snowball into a major trend, taking mobile gaming and mobile life to a higher level.
With interaction being the name of the game Terraplay’s community tools and multiplayer functionality are strong additions to End2End’s mobile gaming proposition.
Technically, the combined solution is cutting-edge. End2End has perfected their Content Delivery Platform resulting in a tool of unsurpassed reliability, and has also matured their hosted, managed solution to cater for the full content lifecycle from ingestion, storefront management and content discovery to seamless end-user delivery and billing. A smooth roll-out from all channels to large communities is now further enhanced via Terraplay’s Global Gaming Network, also comprising in-game micro payment and adding excellent viral marketing opportunities.
Terraplay is a world leader in connected mobile gaming and has been an innovator in developing solutions which allow operators and games publishers to connect their mobile gaming communities. Terraplay was launched in February 2000 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Terraplay has won the ME Award (Best Games Service Provider) for two consecutive years (2006 & 2007).
The acquisition of Terraplay underlines the focus of End2End’s strategy and ambition, to impact the mobile gaming community as an outsourced full-service provider to telecom operators and portals globally.
